Annapolis, MD (July 23, 2025) - The City of Annapolis reminds residents of upcoming 2025 Municipal Election dates, including candidate filing deadlines, Primary Election date, General Election date, and newly released ward maps (with online address/voter lookup, now available online).
Filing Deadline for Certificates of Candidacy: Monday , July 28, 2025
Primary Election: Tuesday, September 16, 2025 , polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
General Election: Tuesday, November 4, 2025 , polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In 2022, the Annapolis City Council appointed nine City residents to the " Ward Boundaries Task Force ," an ad hoc committee of volunteer City residents to recommend new ward boundaries based on 2020 Census data. The updated map, approved by the Annapolis City Council in 2023, ensures balanced voter representation (population) across all eight wards ( Ordinance 3-23 ).
A detailed, interactive map is available on the City's Open Data Portal. Voters can enter their address to confirm their ward: https://city-of-annapolis-open-data-portal-annapolis.hub.arcgis.com/apps/fd595e818ae24f4db26e3c271b02424a/explore .
What residents need to know right now:
Voters should confirm or update their voter registration by the August 18, 2025 deadline at elections.maryland.gov (municipal elections do NOT offer same-day voter registration).
Visit the Open Data Portal's ward map tool to check your ward.
Watch your (USPS) mailbox for an individual voter notice to arrive before both the primary and general elections. Voters can return the enclosed form to receive a mail-in ballot ahead of Primary Election Day and/or General Election Day. Ballots may be returned via U.S. Postal Service or at one of eight drop boxes to be placed at polling locations in each ward.
Please note: the City of Annapolis does not permit online/email/digital voting for municipal elections. Each ballot must be returned to the Board of Elections by Election Day, either at a drop box, polling place, or postmarked via USPS.
The City of Annapolis encourages all eligible voters and prospective candidates to participate in this critical civic process. For more information, candidate packets, or forms, visit the City's 2025 Elections Information page or contact the Municipal Election Office at City Hall, 160 Duke of Gloucester Street (Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
