Airport Road Weekly Construction Update: March 2–6, 2026

The City of Santa Fe Public Works Department's Complete Streets Division continues Phase One roadway improvements on Airport Road between Cerrillos Road and NM 599.

This Week's Work

  • Concrete work continues on the north side of Airport Road, moving west to Country Club Road, segment by segment. Asphalt milling will follow as the weather allows.

  • The southbound turning lane from South Meadows Road onto Airport Road will be closed due to construction at the South Meadows Road and Airport Road intersection. Through traffic on South Meadows Road will remain open. Motorists who need to turn onto Airport Road southbound should use Jemez Road as a detour. The detour is expected to be in place Monday through Wednesday.

  • Phase One will focus on the segment from Cerrillos Road to Fairly Road and will include concrete and accessibility improvements, followed by asphalt work as weather conditions allow.

Each segment is expected to take approximately three to six days to complete, depending on weather and field conditions.

Construction is anticipated to continue through the end of May 2026.

Additional Work

Traffic signal loop detection repairs will take place following pavement striping.

Traffic Impacts

Right lane closures on Airport Road from Cerrillos Road west to Country Club Road.

Possible right-turn lane closures from Cerrillos Road onto Airport Road (northbound and southbound).

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.

The City appreciates the community's patience and cooperation as these roadway and accessibility improvements are completed.
