Free Field Hockey Clinic for youth Sunday, Sept. 13

With Mission Viejo's robust sport tourism efforts and rich Olympic history, the City is teaming up with the Royals Field Hockey Club to host a free field hockey clinic on Sunday, September 13 that will give kids in grades K-12 the chance to try a popular sport.

Taking place from 10 am to 1 pm at Oso Viejo Community Park, the free clinic will teach participants the basics of the game, rules, stick handling, and ball skills while they play games and enjoy challenge drills. Sessions begin at the top of each hour.

Participants can drop in anytime or stay for all three sessions. Running or sports shoes, shin guards, a mouthguard, and water bottle are highly recommended. The rest of the equipment including sticks will be provided.

A fast-paced non-contact sport, field hockey is the third most popular sport in the world. It is an Olympic sport played professionally around the globe, and in the United States, it's played at more than 1,700 middle and high schools.

The field hockey activity complements the current efforts by the City's Sports & Events Tourism Committee (SET) to secure partnerships with National Olympic Committees, National Sports Federations, and Continental Sports Organizations for pre-game training in Mission Viejo before and during the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
