SHREVEPORT - LSUS Continuing Education is stemming the summer slide with fun and engaging STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) summer day camps for kids and teens in the community. LSUS youth camp programs provide early educational experiences to college pathways and career fields in a hands-on, encouraging environment.
Kids ages 6-18 can spark their curiosity and be introduced to real-world skills tied directly to high-demand industries and academic majors. Whether it's engineering, digital media, healthcare, or entrepreneurship, LSUS allows young learners to discover what excites them, and where they might go next.
"Summer is the perfect time to explore," said Leigh Chambers, Executive Director of Events and Community Initiatives. "We want students to walk away from these camps not just with a fun memory, but with a spark, an idea of a future they might pursue in college or beyond."
The more than 35 summer camps run Monday through Thursday, 9 am to noon, on the LSUS campus throughout June and July. All summer programs are taught by faculty, industry professionals, or certified instructors in a collegiate environment that encourages curiosity, discovery, and confidence.
LSUS is revved up to offer a variety of STREAM summer camps that could lead to future pathways, including:
"Every camp is a stepping stone," Chambers said. We're helping kids imagine what's possible - what college could look like, what careers are out there, and how their interests today might shape their real-world futures."
Enrollment is open. Camps fill quickly, so families are encouraged to sign up early. Call 318-798-4177 or visit www.lsus.edu/youthcamps for the full camp schedule and to register.
