Common Health Coalition receives funding from OpenAI Foundation for new initiative

The Common Health Coalition announced Aug. 13 that it will receive $100 million in funding from the OpenAI Foundation for a new initiative using artificial intelligence-powered tools to help states and localities treat and cure various infections and diseases. The Breakthroughs to Follow-Through initiative will begin with the goal of at least doubling hepatitis C cure rates in eight states and localities within the next two years. Following that, the project seeks to expand efforts on HIV prevention and curable cancers.

"The American Hospital Association is proud to support the Breakthroughs to Follow-Through initiative," said Michelle Hood, AHA executive vice president and COO. "Hospitals and health systems are committed to ensuring more people have access to curative hepatitis C treatment, and innovative AI tools can help care teams identify eligible patients, connect them to treatment and ultimately improve the health of communities nationwide."

The AHA is a founding partner of the Coalition.
