Ahead of the Conclave for the election of the 267th Pope, EU Ambassador Martin Selmayr attended with the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See, the "Holy Mass Pro Eligendo Romano Pontifice", presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals.

All cardinal-electors were present. May the new Pope be a person of wisdom, experience, and strong moral authority. In these uncertain times, the Holy See and its influential diplomacy matter more than ever for a just and lasting peace in the many wars and conflicts in the world.
