Update on the security situation in the Middle East – 6 March 2026

The Crisis Cell of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova is operating on a permanent basis and continues to closely monitor security developments in the Middle East.

According to information available at this time, no casualties have been recorded among citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the monitored countries. The Republic of Moldova's diplomatic missions remain in permanent contact with local authorities and provide consular assistance to Moldovan citizens in the region.

State of Israel

The security situation remains without major changes. Citizens of the Republic of Moldova are urged to comply with the security measures established by the Israeli authorities and to follow the instructions of local authorities.

No evacuation requests have been registered from citizens of the Republic of Moldova currently in the State of Israel.

United Arab Emirates

The security situation remains under control, although regional tensions persist. Local authorities continue to keep essential public services operational.

Flights from the airports of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah continue to operate on a limited basis via safe air corridors.

The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Abu Dhabi continues to provide consular assistance to citizens affected by air transport disruptions. Since the last update:

  • 17 calls have been handled via the emergency hotline;

  • 25 e-mail requests have been received regarding consular assistance and options for leaving the region.

In total, to date:

  • 181 calls have been handled via the emergency hotline;

  • 144 requests have been processed by e-mail;

  • 116 evacuation requests have been registered from the United Arab Emirates;

  • 2 evacuation requests have been registered from Bahrain;

  • 10 citizens of the Republic of Moldova have confirmed that they have already left the area.

The authorities of the United Arab Emirates announced a waiver of overstay fines for individuals who were unable to leave the country due to airspace restrictions and flight cancellations.

State of Qatar

The situation in the State of Qatar remains complicated. Air and maritime space remain closed, and the Qatari authorities do not recommend evacuation at this time.

The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Doha continues to monitor the cases of Moldovan citizens who have requested information or consular assistance.

To date, the following have been registered:

  • 26 individual evacuation requests;

  • 40 requests for information regarding the security situation and possible options for departure;

  • 5 requests for consular assistance.

Republic of Türkiye / Lebanese Republic

The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ankara continues to monitor the situation of Moldovan citizens in the region.

At present, 4 citizens of the Republic of Moldova in Lebanon have requested support for repatriation, and the diplomatic mission is reviewing available transit options.

In addition, a Syrian citizen married to a citizen of the Republic of Moldova has already returned to the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

Republic of Azerbaijan

The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Baku continues to monitor security developments and maintains contact with local authorities and partner diplomatic missions regarding possible transit options for foreign citizens leaving Iran.

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova who may be in Iran are urged to contact the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Baku to coordinate potential transit or evacuation options.

Islamic Republic of Iran

The security situation remains volatile in the context of ongoing military operations.

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova in Iran are urged to:

  • avoid travel between provinces;

  • identify the nearest shelter locations;

  • avoid proximity to government and military sites;

  • contact the diplomatic mission regarding possible evacuation options.

According to available information, there are currently no evacuation requests from citizens of the Republic of Moldova in Iran.

Recommendations for citizens of the Republic of Moldova

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Moldovan citizens in the region:

  • avoid non-essential travel;

  • strictly follow the instructions of local authorities;

  • continuously check flight status directly with airlines;

  • stay in contact with the Republic of Moldova's diplomatic missions;

  • rely exclusively on official sources of information.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also receiving reports from citizens of the Republic of Moldova located in other countries-such as the Philippines, the Maldives, Zanzibar or Sri Lanka-who face flight cancellations or rescheduling and transit difficulties. In such situations, citizens are advised to remain in contact with travel agencies and airlines to identify available solutions and to report any difficulties to: [email protected], for case assessment and the provision of the necessary consular support.

The MFA Crisis Cell will continue to monitor the situation on a permanent basis and will provide updates as relevant developments occur.
