WASHINGTON - Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today welcomed the Senate's unanimous passage of his Preventing Child Trafficking Act. The bipartisan bill would require the Departments of Justice (DOJ) and Health and Human Services (HHS) to implement much-needed anti-child trafficking recommendations. The legislation now heads to the House of Representatives for further consideration.
"This is an important bill with an important objective, fostering communication between the Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services with the result, we hope, of preventing children from falling prey to the evils of human trafficking," Grassley said on the Senate floor. "Preventing future instances of trafficking is very, very essential and I'm happy to support this bill's advancement today."
