Boat Burning for Beginners: Swapping Our 9 to 5's for Successful Self-Employment is a collection of real stories from women who stopped waiting for "someday" and built businesses-and lives-on their own terms. Contributing author Abigail Seymour and One City, One Book author Larua Carney will share their career-building journeys at 12 pm Monday, October 20, at Central Library, 219 N. Church St. The City of Greensboro's Deputy Director of Human Rights, Maria Hicks-Few will also be on the panel.
Laura Carney's One City, One Book Greensboro Residency began October 7 and the author will be leading events through October 23, 2025. Her book, My Father's List: How Living My Dad's Dreams Set Me Free, is the story of how one woman-with the help of family, friends, and even strangers-found the courage to go after her own dreams after realizing those of her free-spirited father.
Everyone is invited to bring their lunch; drinks will be provided. Registration is suggested. To register or for more information, email: Beth Sheffield.
