NEW YORK - October 2, 2026 - Beginning today on State of Play with Peter Alexander, MS NOW reporter Alex Tabet will travel across the country for "POTUS Promise Check," a five-part reporting series examining five key commitments President Trump made to the American people on Inauguration Day, and how those promises have translated into reality for everyday Americans across five states.
New reports will air each Friday in October on State of Play with Peter Alexander at 11 a.m. ET and across MS NOW platforms and programming.
Nearly two years into President Trump's second term, Tabet will visit communities in Alaska, Ohio, Arizona, Michigan and North Carolina to examine the current state of the president's promises on prices, manufacturing, immigration, trade and war. The series brings voters' perspectives directly into the national conversation as the country heads toward the midterm elections.
Starting today, Friday, Oct. 2, Tabet will report from Alaska where gas prices are among the nation's highest. As of Oct. 1, the statewide average for regular gasoline was $5.03 per gallon, compared with a national average of $4.41, according to AAA.
On Friday, Oct. 9, Tabet will report from Ohio, where more than 42,000 job cuts were announced in 2025, hitting manufacturing and automotive workers especially hard. He will also examine the impact of data centers across Ohio, which ranks among the top 10 states for the number of such facilities, with 224 statewide.
The following week, on Friday, Oct. 16, Tabet will report from Arizona, where ICE arrested 2,171 people in July, the highest monthly total in at least four years, and more than 2,700 people were held in ICE detention, the majority without criminal convictions.
On Friday, Oct. 23, Tabet will report from Michigan, where Canada, the state's largest trading partner, purchases 36 percent of its exports, or roughly $23.2 billion, putting the state at the center of the tariff debate.
Finally, on Friday, Oct. 30, Tabet will report from North Carolina, home to one of the nation's largest military populations, centered around Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune, to examine the human stakes of the war in Iran.
