Residents Urged to Stay off the Roads

March 15, 2026 - ROCHESTER, MINN. - The City of Rochester is urging residents to stay home and remain off the roads. Travel is difficult and road conditions are hazardous across the city.

Public Works operators are actively working to clear city streets; however, with the predicted snowfall rates and ongoing whiteout conditions, progress is slow. Vehicles are becoming stuck, placing drivers in potentially unsafe situations and further hindering snow removal operations.

Emergency service and tow response for stranded vehicles may be significantly delayed due to the severe weather and reduced visibility. Residents are encouraged to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary and allow crews the space needed to safely and effectively clear the roads.
