Community members are invited to a ribbon-cutting for the latest affordable housing collaboration at 12:30 PM on June 4 at 521 Leaning Elm. The celebration is coordinated in partnership between the City of Norman HOME Investment Partnerships Program, the Norman 2015 Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), and the Norman Affordable Housing Corporation (NAHC).
The 4-bedroom/2.5 bath unit is 1,808 sq. ft. and meets Norman's Visitability Standards. Tenant selection - based on an established set of eligibility criteria - has been made and a family will move into the unit very soon, event coordinators say. Tenants are responsible for meeting monthly rent and other household bills, as well as the upkeep of lawn maintenance.
At the start of construction in November 2025, local Grants Manager of the Community Development Block Grant Program Lisa Krieg said that closing Norman's housing gap happens "one brick, one board, and one partnership at a time," with each new project contributing to long-term community stability. To date, more than 55 debt-free affordable homes that been created in Norman through such intentional partnerships.
