CHCP Podiatrist Caroline Ridgway spent part of the bank holiday weekend camping out near Doncaster, supporting veteran servicemen and women from different branches of the Royal Artillery. Caroline provided a day of free foot care and health advice at the Family Fire Mission camp.
"Our service personnel offer their lives for us. I have a long background with the Royal British Legion and playing Last Post every year to honour those who made the supreme sacrifice. This was a more practical way to support the living using the skills I have."
One ex-serviceman commented, "When you are serving, there is massive group and medical support, but that all disappears when we retire. Fire Mission helps us reconnect and improve our mental health. Offers like Caroline's are rare but very welcome, especially as she copes very well with our banter and sense of humour!"
