Vindman Releases Statement After Voting Against Republican Political Games

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Eugene Vindman (Va.-07) today released the following statement after House Republicans attached a poison pill amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

"The NDAA has long been one of the most bipartisan bills Congress considers because our national security should never be a political game. Yet, my Republican colleagues are abandoning that time-honored tradition to pass their extreme voter suppression agenda. I cannot vote to undermine the democracy that I and our service members have sworn an oath to support and defend.

"Instead of passing the bipartisan bill I voted for out of the House Armed Services Committee, Republicans are endangering national security and our troops to advance their partisan agenda because they can't win fair at the ballot box.

"We've seen this playbook before. Attaching a poison pill to legislation for our troops is a betrayal of every service member, military family, and veteran who has sacrificed for this country. As a 25-year Army veteran, I will always fight for our men and women in uniform."
