USDA Announces Appointments to the American Egg Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the appointment of 10 members and 12 alternates to serve on the American Egg Board, effective immediately. Eighteen members and alternates will serve two-year terms, and one member and three alternates will serve one-year terms.

Newly appointed members and alternates are:

Area I - East States

  • Tony Wesner, Hyde, N.C., member
  • Alex R. Simpson, Monroe, N.C., alternate member
  • Natalie Held, Clarence, N.Y., member
  • Matthew Howard Resnick, Lancaster, Pa., alternate member
  • Gijs Schimmel, Lexington, Ga., member
  • Chris Pierce, Annville, Pa., alternate member

Area II - Central States

  • Amy Herbruck, Saranac, Mich., alternate member
  • Andrew Seger, Dubois, Ind., member
  • Bryce McCory, Seymour, Ind., alternate member
  • Kurt J. Nelson, Seymour, Ind., alternate member (1-year term)
  • Michael B. Willmann, Portland, Ind., alternate member (1-year term)

Area III - West States

The American Egg Board is composed of 18 members and 18 alternates representing three areas and is authorized by the Egg Research and Consumer Information Act of 1974. Since 1966, Congress has authorized the development of industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool their resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities. AMS provides oversight of 21 boards, paid for by industry assessments, which helps ensure fiscal accountability and program integrity.
