Southeast Precinct patrol officers working a traffic initiative Thursday at 10:30 a.m. saw two vehicles, a black Camaro and a white Dodge Charger, drag racing on Bell Road. They stopped the driver of the Charger, Jeffry Alexander Lizardo-Escobar, 25, on Bell Road at Brittany Park Drive. The investigation continues into identifying the second driver.
The two vehicles were traveling well in excess of the posted speed limit of 45 MPH and driving in a reckless manner with complete disregard for other motorists. He is charged with drag racing and not having a valid driver's license.
Lizardo-Escobar's 2021 Dodge Charger was towed from the scene in accordance with T.C.A. 55-10-502: The vehicle was seized upon reasonable belief it was used to commit the offense of drag racing, or to flee after commission of the offense of drag racing , and is upon conviction for the offense, subject to seizure and forfeiture as provided in Title 40, Chapter 33, Part 1 of the Tennessee Code Annotated (T.C.A.).
Lizardo-Escobar is free on $3,500 bond.
