ATLANTA - State Representative Jordan Ridley (R-Woodstock) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Youth Exposure to Kratom and Retail-Available Substances.
"It is time that we take a thorough and thoughtful review of how products like kratom are produced and regulated, as well as how they are marketed toward and made easily accessible to minors," said Rep. Ridley. "I am honored to be appointed to serve alongside my colleagues as we take a proactive steps to protect Georgia's children and save lives."
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Youth Exposure to Kratom and Retail-Available Substances will evaluate the impact of these products on minors to strengthen protections, reduce access and create healthier outcomes for Georgia's youth.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Rick Townsend (R-Brunswick), Michelle Au (D-Johns Creek), Steven Meeks (R-Screven), Tyler Paul Smith (R-Bremen), Danny Mathis (R-Cochran) and Dar'shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia).

Representative Jordan Ridley represents the citizens of District 22, which includes portions of Cherokee and Cobb counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Code Revision Committee and as Secretary of the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications Committee. He also serves on the Game, Fish & Parks and Public Safety and Homeland Security committees.
