Pavement Sealing Work Along Various Routes to Begin Week of May 18

Southwest District - Drivers should expect one lane traffic, flaggers and pilot cars where contractor crews are sealing various routes in the Southwest District with a mixture of rock and oil beginning Monday, May 18, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Work is planned to begin May 18 starting with U.S. Route 160 in Taney County.

Contractor crews will seal the existing driving surface on these routes. A seal coat is not an alternative to an asphalt overlay, but is being used as an economical way to maintain and preserve the roadway. The treatments keep a road from deteriorating and will extend its life. Crews will work daytime hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. from Monday - Friday.

Here's a look at the project:

  • Barry County
    • Missouri Route 76 between Missouri Route 112 south of Cassville and a point approximately one mile east of Route EE at the Barry/Stone county line
    • Missouri Route 97 between Missouri Route 86 and Route B east of Fairview
    • Route Z between Missouri Route 39 and U.S. Route 60 east of Monett
  • Christian County
    • Route T between Missouri Route 125 in Oldfield and Route UU at the Christian/Douglas county line
  • Jasper County
    • Route H between Missouri Route 43 and I-49 in Jasper
  • Newton County
    • Route B between U.S. Route 60 in Granby and Missouri Route 86
  • McDonald County
    • Missouri Route 76 between Route U south of Rocky Comfort and Thief Hollow Road east of Anderson
  • Taney County
    • U. Route 160 between Route O in Kissee Mills and Lightning Springs Road at the Taney/Ozark county line
  • Webster County
    • Route C between Missouri Route 38 and Route P north of Seymour

Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic reduced to one lane where contractor crews are working
  • Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed when traveling over recently sealed sections of highways
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes
  • No signed detours
  • Drivers will encounter flaggers and pilot cars directing them through the work zones. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zones or before entering the work zones from a side road.
  • Drivers will have access to driveways and entrances along the road
  • Electronic message boards located near the planned road work will alert drivers to any changes in the work schedule
  • Check MoDOT's Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.
