The Connecticut Department of Transportation is developing plans to improve the quality of the stormwater discharging from the CTDOT drainage systems at sites in Ansonia, Bristol, Killingly, Manchester, Naugatuck, Newington, Stratford, and Trumbull.
The project involves constructing drainage improvements to existing stormwater infrastructure to disconnect impervious areas, reduce stormwater runoff quantity, and improve stormwater runoff quality from suitable CTDOT drainage systems.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in early 2026, with construction anticipated to start in the fall of 2026, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding, receipt of any required right-of-way, and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with one hundred percent (100%) state funds.
It is the CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with the CTDOT to assist in the project's development. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public meeting will be necessary.
