Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has confirmed that applications for its 2027 Expedition Showcase will open on November 5, with two ships new to the event in the line-up, and a total of seven ships for delegates to explore.
The event will again be held in Longyearbyen, in the Svalbard archipelago, from July 2-6. The destination is one of the primary starting points for Arctic expedition departures.
The programme will give agents the opportunity to learn more about this iconic destination, alongside business sessions, product training and select dinners. In addition, hosted ship visits will take place on the following, with ships new to the Svalbard line-up from 66 Expeditions and HX Expeditions:
Due to the more remote location, CLIA has arranged an event package including return flights between Oslo and Longyearbyen with SAS Scandinavian Airlines, airport transfers and four nights' accommodation with breakfast. Delegates will need to arrange their own travel to and from Oslo, allowing them to use their preferred home airport.
This will be the third CLIA Expedition Showcase, with both previous events also held in Svalbard.
Andy Harmer, CLIA UK & Ireland managing director, said: "Our Expedition Showcase gives travel agents the chance to develop their knowledge of this specialist sector, meet expedition cruise operators and experience the ships and destination first-hand.
"Returning to Svalbard means agents can gain practical insight into Arctic expedition cruising, from life onboard to the destinations and excursions available. We want delegates to leave with greater confidence in discussing expedition cruises with their customers and a clearer understanding of the sales opportunities they present."
The announcement comes during CLIA's 'A Week of Expedition' webinar series, which features daily destination-focused sessions hosted in collaboration with cruise line members. Today's session focused on the Arctic, with Australia and the South Pacific, followed by the Galapagos, completing the programme over the next two days.
CLIA has also confirmed that places remain for its annual conference in Southampton, taking place from May 13-15, 2027. The event, which will feature a refreshed format, includes business sessions, an extended trade fair, themed workshops and ship visits.
