Donation Will Provide Solar Energy and Shade Structures While Complementing Planned $7 Million in Site Upgrades
HENDERSON, Nev. (April 22, 2026) - At the April 21 Henderson City Council meeting, Mayor and Council approved a donation of solar energy system valued at more than $278,000 from Sol-Up, a Nevada-based provider of high-efficiency solar technologies, to support the City's Animal Protection Services facility.
The solar donation, which will also serve as shade structures, complements the City's previously announced capital investment in the facility, advancing a shared vision for enhanced shelter operations and sustainability.
The donated solar system will provide multiple long-term benefits, including:
In July 2025, the City announced plans for up to $7 million in site investments, including upgrades to the existing facility and construction of a new on-site office building for Animal Protection Services and Office of Public Response personnel. The projects are currently in the design phase.
The upgrades will improve operational efficiency, relocate Animal Protection Officers to a new building and free up space within the existing facility footprint to expand services and enhance animal care.
