APCO Seeks Comments on Candidate Standard for Non 9-1-1 Call Processing and Dispatch

Alexandria, VA - The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International is seeking comments for candidate American National Standard (ANS) Non 9-1-1 Call Processing and Dispatch.

This standard will guide emergency communications center (ECC) leaders in developing and implementing policies, procedures and written protocols to address concerns and hesitations regarding interactions between ECCs and external call centers.

"This new standard represents a critical step forward in enhancing emergency communications coordination. As emergency call volumes continue to evolve and technology advances, it's essential that we provide ECC leaders with clear, comprehensive guidance for managing interactions with external call centers," said Jack Varnado, president of APCO International.

The public may review and comment on this candidate standard until September 8 via the APCO website.
