A new mural is coming to Downtown Hillsboro at the east entrance of the Hillsboro Civic Center parking garage!
Community members are invited to attend a public listening session on June 11 to meet the artists, help shape the mural design, and learn about the project.
Downtown Mural Listening Session
Thursday, June 11
6 to 8 pm
Civic Center, Room 113 B/C
The project is being led by artists Allison McClay and Rodolfo Serna, who were chosen by a committee representing the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council, local businesses, City staff, and members of the local arts community.
During the listening session, the artists will share information and gather community input as they develop a site-specific proposal for review by the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council later this summer.
The approximately 900-square-foot mural will celebrate the people of Hillsboro while creating a sense of belonging and offering a warm welcome to Downtown visitors.
Located within the Hillsboro Cultural Arts District, the Civic Center serves as a hub for City services, public gatherings, and community events. The mural site, positioned along a pedestrian-focused alleyway off NE 2nd Avenue, presents an opportunity for a vibrant and welcoming visual landmark.
The mural wall features multiple pedestrian entryways, a vehicle entrance, and existing signage that will be incorporated into the final design. Painting work is expected to begin in late summer/fall 2026.
