All candidates qualified to be on the ballot are invited to participate. The official list of candidates is finalized on Nov. 14. Both forums will take place at the Tempe History Museum, 809 E. Southern Ave. The City of Tempe will stream the events live at tempe.gov/Tempe11.
The Tempe Chamber of Commerce will host its forum at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18. Since 1893, the Tempe Chamber of Commerce has represented the voice of business in the community. Today, they speak for more than 550 businesses with more than 70,000 employees. Board member Matthew Heil, Chair of the Public Policy/ Government Relations Committee, will moderate the forum.
The Arizona Republic, the state's largest news outlet, will conduct the forum on Wednesday evening, Jan. 14. Reporter Taylor Seely, The Republic's First Amendment fellow, will serve as moderator. Seely is quite familiar with local government issues: She has covered the cities of Phoenix, Glendale and Scottsdale in her years with The Republic. She now covers issues touching on the fundamental rights of freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Both forums are free to attend.
