WASHINGTON-U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) released the following statement in response to President Trump's firing of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem:
"Kristi Noem will be remembered for her outrageous incompetence in overseeing a department that killed American citizens, imprisoned hundreds of children, terrorized communities, and broke the law almost every single day. In an administration defined by corruption and self-dealing, Secretary Noem stood out for how shamelessly she wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on photoshoots and a life of luxury, while handing out favors to her political allies. I'm glad she got fired, but removing Noem will not solve the fundamental problems with this out-of-control agency, especially if Stephen Miller remains in the White House. Congress should not give DHS another dime until the lawlessness is reined in."
