Hungary on alert!

Hungary on alert! In the wake of the war involving Iran, terrorist cells in Western Europe may be activated. This directly affects Hungary's security, which is why we have introduced precautionary measures. We will protect the security of Hungary and the Hungarian people, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán wrote in conjunction with a video he posted on Facebook on Thursday.

In the video, the Prime Minister said "This morning we began the day with a meeting of the Counter Terrorism Coordination Committee because the war in the Middle East directly affects Hungary's security situation."

Mr Orbán therefore convened the heads of the organisations responsible for counter terrorism and placed their operations on a higher level of alert.

"We have learned that through mass migration Middle Eastern terrorist organisations have established themselves and grown stronger in Western Europe. We now expect that these organisations and terrorist cells present in Europe will be activated. Hungary's peace and security will be protected in this situation as well. Therefore, we have strengthened checks on foreign arrivals entering Hungary," Mr Orbán said.
