BBC Newshour Interviews Professor Celis about Netflix's '100 Years of Solitude'

Celis, a professor of Romance languages and literatures and Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx studies, spoke on air alongside Alex García López, principal director of the big-budget television adaptation. They were interviewed the day before the show was released on December 12, 2024.

More recently, Celis was invited on the daily Maine Calling radio show January 10-along with García Márquez's niece María Mockler, who lives in Maine-to speak about the novel, the podcast, and the Netflix series.

Last year, in expectation of the splash she anticipated the series would make, Celis created a bilingual podcast about the novel called One Hundred Years of Solitude Together.

The podcast includes eight episodes recorded both in English and Spanish. "Inspired by the imminent release of the Netflix adaptation of one of the most read and universal works of our time, the podcast takes readers of Gabriel García Márquez through the original context of One Hundred Years of Solitude, its main themes and contemporary relevance," Celis said.

Celis would like to thank the many generous supporters of her podcast.
