June 12, 2025 | From City of New Orleans
The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works (DPW) today announced that Frenchmen Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between the 400-600 blocks daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., beginning Thursday, June 19 through Thursday, July 3, to accommodate work related to the DPW773: Right of Way Improvements Project. The street will reopen to traffic at the end of each workday unless extended hours are required.
The closure will affect vehicles only. Pedestrian access will remain open, although brief sidewalk disruptions may occur as work progresses. Parking will also be restricted in active construction zones. "No Parking" signs will be posted in advance to notify residents and businesses.
The scope of work includes:
Patching, milling, and overlay paving
Sidewalk and ADA accessibility improvements (as needed)
Drainage structure and pipe cleaning
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes during construction hours. Traffic control measures, including signage, barrels, and fencing, will be in place to ensure public safety.
This work is part of the City's broader efforts to enhance infrastructure, accessibility, and safety across New Orleans. For more information about this and other DPW projects, visit https://www.nola.gov/dpwprojects.
