DEL RIO, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry recently seized a potent mixed load of hard narcotics, to include methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl valued at more than $550,000 hidden within a passenger vehicle.
CBP seizes more than half million in drugs."By stopping these hard narcotics before they can enter our country, we are actively saving lives and dismantling the operations of criminal organizations," said Port Director Liliana Flores, Del Rio Port of Entry. "We will continue to maintain a high state of readiness to address all threats attempting to enter the United States."
The seizure occurred on Sept. 3 at the Del Rio International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country driven by a 28-year-old male United States citizen for secondary inspection. Following a nonintrusive inspection system and canine examination CBP officers discovered packages containing 4.45 pounds of alleged methamphetamine, 8.81 pounds of alleged heroin, and 12.69 pounds of alleged fentanyl hidden within the vehicle. The narcotics have a combined estimated street value of $557,589.
CBP seized the narcotics. Homeland Security Investigations special agents have made one arrest and have initiated a criminal investigation.
