Lake Hills Boulevard closure extended to Oct. 1

Published August 11 2026

The temporary closure of Lake Hills Boulevard between 151st and 154th avenues Southeast has been extended to Oct. 1. The extension is necessary due to unexpected construction challenges encountered after work began on replacement of the Kelsey Creek culvert.

In addition to replacement of the culvert, under Lake Hills Boulevard, the city is repairing and/or replacing portions of the sewer and water system near Larsen Lake and the Lake Hills Greenbelt.

What travelers need to know

Lake Hills Boulevard will remain closed to vehicle traffic through Oct. 1. Detours will continue to be in place for the street, as well as the Lake to Lake trail, and sidewalk and crosswalk. Travelers should continue to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow posted detour routes.

We appreciate the community's patience and understanding as construction continues. The city is working to complete the project as safely and efficiently as possible while minimizing impacts whenever possible.
