The Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrates 35 years of Ukraine’s independence

Today, Monday 24 August, marks the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's declaration of independence, a celebration of particular significance for the Ukrainian people and for Europe.

On this day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the entire Italian diplomatic and consular network in the world renew their closeness to Ukraine and firmly reaffirm Italy's support for its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Italy continues to strongly condemn Russian aggression and to support the Ukrainian people in defending their freedom and in pursuing a just and lasting peace.

On the occasion of the anniversary, the Farnesina Palace will be illuminated with the colours of the Ukrainian flag. The initiative is intended to pay tribute to the memory of the thousands of victims of the war and to testify to the closeness of the institutions and the Italian people to the Ukrainian people, who have been resolutely defending their independence, freedom and national identity for over four years.
