BANGKA BARAT -- As a form of care for others, PT TIMAH Tbk collaborated with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of West Bangka Regency to organize a blood donation drive held on Wednesday (February 11, 2026) in the lobby of the Processing and Refinery Division Office of PT TIMAH Tbk.
This blood donation activity was also part of the series of events commemorating National Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month within PT TIMAH Tbk, involving employees as well as interns working in the company's operational area.
Head of PMI West Bangka Regency, Dr. Jovita Sari Metkono, stated that PT TIMAH Tbk is one of PMI's strategic partners that consistently contributes to helping meet the community's blood supply needs.
"So far, PT TIMAH Tbk has routinely collaborated with PMI Bangka Barat, especially during the company's anniversary through blood donation activities," she said.
According to Jovita, this year there has been a change in the cooperation pattern, where blood donations are no longer held only on special occasions but are planned to become a routine activity every three months through PMI's mobile unit services at PT TIMAH Tbk's operational areas.
"We have reached an understanding with PT TIMAH Tbk's management regarding promoting a healthy lifestyle while helping people in need of blood. Going forward, blood donations will be conducted regularly," she explained.
She also expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH Tbk's support in facilitating the blood donation activities through mobile unit services within the company area.
"We hope this activity will help maintain adequate blood stock availability for the people of Bangka Barat," she added.
Jovita noted that the spirit of blood donation has actually grown among PT TIMAH Tbk employees, even beyond official company events.
"Several PT TIMAH Tbk employees regularly donate blood, including replacement donations when hospitals require additional blood supplies," she said.
With a relatively large number of employees in the Bangka Barat area, she hopes participation in blood donation activities will continue to increase and help maintain the region's blood stock availability.
"Being a hero doesn't require going to war. Through simple acts like donating blood, we can already save someone's life. Don't be afraid to donate blood-the benefits are far greater than the brief discomfort, and donating blood is free," she concluded.
One of the donors, Amanda, an intern at PT TIMAH Tbk, said she was happy to take part in the humanitarian action.
"I hope the blood I donated will be useful for those who need it. It feels good to be able to share kindness," she said. (*)
