Vogel Announces State Grants for Municipal Traffic Light Upgrades in Beaver and Butler Counties

ROCHESTER - Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) announced today several municipalities in Beaver and Butler counties will benefit from nearly $430,000 in state funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Green Light-Go Program, dedicated to enhancing local traffic signals and improving community traffic flow.

"Ensuring the safety of our residents and travelers is of the utmost importance to me and our local leaders," Vogel said. "One of the main ways we can deliver on this priority is by supporting and acting on projects like these that update and maintain our traffic light systems to protect drivers from hazardous situations."

The following municipal projects were awarded grant funding:

Beaver County

Center Township will receive $132,024 to upgrade signal equipment at Pleasant Drive and Autumn Street.

Butler County

Cranberry Township will receive $94,800 to upgrade detection and controller equipment at multiple intersections, and $83,350 to expand fiber-optic traffic signal communications.

Seven Fields Borough will receive $117,520 to replace outdated sensors with radar detection.

Established by the General Assembly in 2013, Green Light-Go is a competitive state grant program designed to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals.
