The Marion County Board of County Commissioners has officially proclaimed November 2025 as Veterans Appreciation Month in Marion County, honoring the service, courage, and sacrifice of the men and women who have defended our nation.
Throughout American history, veterans from all walks of life have answered the call to duty, standing as steadfast defenders of liberty and freedom. Their courage and sacrifice have helped ensure that our nation remains a beacon of democracy for generations to come.
Marion County is proud to be home to more than 45,000 veterans and their families, each contributing to the strength and character of our community. These brave and selfless individuals have demonstrated unwavering patriotism and devotion to the ideals upon which our nation was founded, often placing themselves in harm's way to protect the lives and freedoms of others.
"Veterans Month is a time to honor all of those who have served this great nation. I am proud to stand here amongst all of these great veterans," said Daisy Diaz, Marion County Veterans Services Director, during the Nov. 4 commission meeting.
Vice Chairman Carl Zalak, III added, "Thank you to all of you who defended our freedoms when we could not do it. Your service to our great nation does not go unrecognized."
This month-long recognition serves as a reminder to honor and thank those who have served, not just on Veterans Day but every day, for their enduring commitment and sacrifice in defense of our country.
