CMS moratorium on durable medical equipment supplier enrollment expires

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' six-month moratorium on the enrollment of new durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supply companies in Medicare expired Aug. 27. CMS said that national provider enrollment contractors have resumed accepting initial enrollment applications from those suppliers. The agency said that suppliers should submit applications as soon as possible to allow contractors the maximum time for processing before the bidding window opens for the 2028 round of the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program.
