Hoeven & Cramer Introduce Senate Resolution Honoring NDSU Bison's 10th FCS National Championship

Senators Spoke with President Trump About White House Visit, Deliver Remarks on Senate Floor Recognizing Accomplishments of Bison Nation

WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven today introduced a resolution, cosponsored by Senator Kevin Cramer, congratulating the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison football team on winning its 10th NCAA Division I FCS national championship title. The senators complemented the resolution with remarks delivered on the floor of the U.S. Senate recognizing the Bison's long record of excellence, the team's strong season and the accomplishments of the players, coaches, staff and community. Hoeven and Cramer also spoke with President Donald Trump to coordinate a White House visit for the Bison in honor of their victory.

"NDSU has a truly impressive team and a tremendous program, and we think it is fitting that they visit the White House once again in recognition of continuing excellence on the field. To this end, I spoke with President Trump and NDSU President Cook," said Senator Hoeven. "We honor the whole team, and especially Head Coach Tim Polasek, who made his return to Bison football and, in his first year as head coach, demonstrated his commitment to continuing the legacy of championship football at North Dakota State University…We also cannot forget to honor the dedication of Bison Nation, who show up game after game and support the team, coaches and staff. North Dakota is truly proud of the many accomplishments of the NDSU Bison."

"You can't help but use the word dynasty," said Senator Cramer. "The two quarterbacks in this game, Tommy Mellott from Montana State and Cam Miller from NDSU, played each other in this same game when they were freshmen. They both started with their respective teams when they were freshmen, and NDSU prevailed in that game as well. What a program and what a great group of guys that created."
