The Attorney General's Office announced that Christopher Poczobut, 52, formerly of Rutland, Vermont, currently living in New York, pled no contest yesterday to misdemeanor Neglect of a Vulnerable Adult. His sentencing will be deferred for a two-year term of probation, regular drug testing, and 100 hours of community service. The plea is the result of an investigation conducted by Vermont Secretary of State's Office of Professional Regulation (OPR).
Mr. Poczobut entered his plea in the Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Unit, Criminal Division. The Court, Judge Cortland T. Corsones presiding, ordered Mr. Poczobut to complete two years of supervised probation, to complete 100 hours of community service within 18 months, and to have no contact with the victim or the victim's family.
Mr. Poczobut is facing parallel OPR administrative discipline as part of the Vermont Secretary of State's mission to protect the public from incompetent or unethical practitioners through a system of licensure. More information about OPR can be found at https://sos.vermont.gov/opr/about-opr .
