On January 8, 2025, State Police of Clifton Park arrested James E. Thornton, 56, of Cohoes, NY, for Grand Larceny in the third degree, a class "D" felony.
On September 5, 2024, at about 7:55 p.m., Troopers received a complaint about multiple past thefts from the Lowes in Halfmoon, NY. The investigation revealed that from July 2024 to September 2024, Thornton allegedly entered the store more than half a dozen times. During those visits to the store, he reportedly stole more than $3,000 worth of merchandise. As a result of this investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Thornton by the Halfmoon Town Court on December 3, 2024.
Thornton was arrested in Cohoes, NY, and transported to SP Clifton Park for processing. He was arraigned at the Halfmoon Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,000 cash, $4,000 bond, or a $4,000 partially secured bond.
