October Ambassador ‘cares deeply about the people in her life’

Wendy Denlinger, Accounts Receivable

Often in life, it doesn't take a grand gesture to have a profound impact on those around us.

For example, take this small act of kindness on the part of Wendy Denlinger.

"During one of the most difficult periods of my life, I had to take an extended leave from work," a co-worker said. "Wendy checked in with me while I was away because she genuinely cared about how I was doing.

"When I returned, she gave me a bracelet as a reminder of the waves of life and that difficult seasons eventually pass. I wore that bracelet every day until it finally gave out. It meant more to me than she probably realizes.

"That's Wendy. She cares deeply about the people in her life, whether they're patients, co-workers, or friends. She'll go out of her way to make someone feel supported, safe, heard, and valued. The list of examples I could give honestly goes on and on."

And that's why Denlinger is Reid Health's Ambassador for the month of October.

For nearly 26 years, she has been part of the Reid team, with almost all that time coming in the Accounts Receivable department.

"Although our work might not always be visible, it plays an important role in supporting the care we provide every day," Denlinger said. "I've learned every contribution matters and even behind-the-scenes work helps make a meaningful difference. Behind every account is a patient and a family and keeping that perspective inspires me to do my best every day.

"I come to work each day wanting to learn, grow, and be the best version of myself. Whether it's helping someone through a challenge, offering encouragement, or simply being a source of support, I find purpose in helping others feel valued and supported."

A native of New Paris, Ohio, Denlinger still lives there today with her husband, Josh, in a home the high school sweethearts built together.

When she's not working, she enjoys going to worship concerts, shopping, traveling with Josh, and cheering on her nieces and nephews at their sporting events.

"Spending time with family is something I truly value," Denlinger said.

Co-workers praise her ability to balance accountability and kindness in her role as a supervisor, pairing "professional excellence with genuine care for her team."

"Working for an organization that prioritizes the well-being of others gives me a strong sense of purpose and reminds me I'm exactly where I belong," Denlinger said.

"The family culture is what has kept me here over the years. I've built close friendships and relationships that have become a meaningful part of my life. The people I've worked with have made Reid feel like a second family, so it's always been more than just a job to me."
