1,012,120 passengers travel through ABE in 2024

(Hanover Township, PA) - For the first time since 2004, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) eclipsed the one million passenger mark for a calendar year.

"Just before the pandemic, the Airport was inching closer to reaching this milestone with the arrival of new air service and the opening of the Allegiant Crew Base. And we're finally here," said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

Last year, 1,012,240 passengers traveled through ABE in 2024 - an 8.7% increase from 2023.

"On behalf of ABE, thank you to our loyal passengers and the entire region for choosing us when booking your air travel. This is also a testament to the strong commitment of Airport staff and stakeholders that deliver the highest level of customer service every day," said Stoudt.

2024 produced plenty of accomplishments which include:

  • Recognized as one of the "Best Small Airports in the U.S." by Newsweek Readers' Choice Awards
  • Launched nonstop service to Orlando International Airport (MCO) aboard Allegiant
  • Tailwind Concessions celebrated the opening of the Drafthouse at ABE and
    Which Wich® Superior Sandwiches
  • Installation of a new passenger boarding bridge at Gate #3
  • Expanded community outreach - A historic B-29 Superfortress arrived at ABE for public tours and the ABE Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Unit hosted a Junior Fire Camp.

249,609,324 pounds of air cargo processed through ABE in 2024 - a (9.4%) decrease from 2023.

"Last January, the Airport secured a $40-million INFRA Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) to build a Northside Logistics and Cargo Complex (NLCC). Even as a slight decrease in air cargo snapped four consecutive record-breaking years of activity, we are confident that ABE will remain an integral part of the air cargo logistics supply chain," said Stoudt.
