ICANN Board Seeks Input on Bylaws Amendments

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Board of Directors has opened two Public Comment proceedings on amendments to its Bylaws for feedback.

These include Fundamental Bylaws Amendments relating to the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) Naming Function Review, the Customer Standing Committee (CSC), and the CSC Charter and a Standard Bylaws Amendment proposal to temporarily remove Bylaws mandates to initiate Specific Reviews during community dialogue.

For the Fundamental Bylaws Amendments, both topics relate to how the community oversees ICANN in its performance of the IANA functions. For more information, and to participate in this proceeding, please visit this webpage.

The Standard Bylaws Amendment contains a proposal to insert a Transition Article into the Bylaws that would address community concerns that ICANN is out of compliance with its Bylaws obligations on Specific Reviews. For more information, and to participate in this proceeding, please visit this webpage.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address - a name or a number - into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
