State v. Vincent Denard Simon
Decatur, Ga.- DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announces a conviction by jury trial in the case against a man accused of trafficking drugs out of his Ellenwood home.
On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, a jury found Vincent Denard Simon, 41, guilty on charges of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Trafficking Marijuana, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony stemming from a drug investigation that culminated in the execution of a search warrant on February 6, 2024.
According to the investigation, agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation learned Defendant Simon was selling drugs out of a house on Ward Lake Way in Ellenwood. After completing some controlled buys of drugs from Defendant Simon, agents obtained a search warrant for his home.
During the search, investigators found 132 pounds of marijuana, about a kilogram of methamphetamine pills, other unidentified pills and powders, and more than 40 firearms including rifles, shotguns, pistols, and some automatic weapons.
Technicians at the GBI lab tested some of the pills to confirm they were methamphetamine.
During a sentencing hearing held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, DeKalb County Magistrate Judge Matthew McCoyd, who presided over the trial sitting by designation for the Superior Court, sentenced Defendant Simon to serve 20 years in confinement, and an additional 40 years on probation. Judge McCoyd also sentenced Defendant Simon to pay a $1.1 million fine.
The case, assigned to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Unit (HIDTA), was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Reid White with assistance from Assistant District Attorney Brittany Carter. Georgia Bureau of Investigation Assistant Special Agent in Charge R. Jordan led the initial investigation.
