DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: 10/10/26 at 12:06 AM
LOCATION OF INCIDENT: 800 block E. Washington Ave., El Cajon, CA
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On Saturday, October 1, 2026, at approximately 12:06 AM, the El Cajon Police Department received reports of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 800 block of E. Washington Ave. Officers responded to the emergency call with Heartland Fire. The pedestrian, an unidentified woman, had been crossing the street at the intersection of Mollison when she was struck by the passing driver. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver fled the scene after the collision.
The roadway remained closed for several hours while officers investigated the scene.
