Juneteenth Family Day at Goodyear High School

The 5th Annual Juneteenth Family Day will take place on Friday, June 19, from 6 to 10 p.m. at a brand-new location, Goodyear High School. This year's theme is "Homecoming," celebrating the traditions, culture, and experiences surrounding an HBCU homecoming celebration.

Enjoy a dynamic lineup of educational speeches, live performances, and interactive activities both indoors and outdoors. Discover the history and significance of Juneteenth, connect through hands-on workshops, and celebrate with your community.

Activities include:

  • A custom tote bag station where attendees can press personalized patches onto tote bags.
  • Five large-scale Juneteenth murals for photo opportunities.
  • An interactive HBCU map activity where alumni can mark the schools they attended, and future HBCU students can share where they hope to attend college.
  • Performances by: Outside the Line, Thrive City Church, Hollywood Bratz Majorette Dance Team, 40+ Double Dutch Club and a live marching band that will perform throughout the evening with performances taking place every hour, culminating in a featured halftime-style showcase performance during the event.
  • Majorette dance lessons
  • Financial success and empowerment workshops
  • Line dancing
  • African drumming
  • Storytime
  • Afroletics
  • Family Tree workshops

There will also be a dedicated kids zone, more than a dozen artisan vendors and over half a dozen food trucks.

In celebration of Father's Day weekend, event artists have also designed a special Father's Day card activity where children can color and customize cards. The first 500 fathers in attendance will also receive a specially designed commemorative pin.
