(Washington, D.C.) - The following statement can be attributed to American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) President and CEO Dave Bauer:
"Infrastructure touches every American on a daily basis. Accordingly, it has always been rare, common ground in Washington. As the President prepares to address the nation Tuesday, a bold call-to-action on transportation investment is both warranted and well-timed. The need is urgent: our infrastructure backlog grows every year, and every delay brings lost productivity and missed opportunities to create safer, faster commutes.
Investing in transportation is not just a need, but an obligation. In just seven months, the current highway and public transportation authorization expires. Any delay in enacting a new law brings uncertainty, which could raise project costs. Over the last four years, more than 116,000 projects proved the transformative effect transportation investment can bring to communities in every congressional district. We stand ready to work with leaders of both parties to keep moving America forward."
