City Breaks Ground on Heritage Oaks Park

On Thursday, August 28, the City celebrated the groundbreaking of Heritage Oaks Park, a 9-acre community space designed to enhance recreation, accessibility, and connection to the land's cultural heritage.

The $7.8 million project, supported by a $3 million grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), will feature an inclusive playground, a river-themed spray ground, an outdoor amphitheater, pollinator gardens, walking and fitness trails, and an elevated boardwalk winding through the site's historic oak grove. Other highlights include a BMX skills course, multi-use turf area, and expanded picnic and parking spaces.

As a condition of LWCF funding, the park will remain a dedicated public space, providing residents with a vibrant hub for recreation, gathering, and environmental appreciation for generations to come.

The project is expected to be completed by July 2026.
