A dedicated pink parking spot. A day focused on caring for caregivers. A community event with a purpose. This October, AdventHealth Manchester recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month by encouraging team members and community members to make breast health a priority.
At the heart of these efforts was an important reminder: Mammograms can help detect breast cancer early, sometimes before symptoms appear.
Making time for those who care for others
For healthcare team members, busy days often revolve around meeting the needs of others. AdventHealth Manchester designated a day specifically for team members to receive their mammograms, encouraging them to give their own health the same attention they give their patients.
The initiative brought breast cancer awareness into the workplace with a practical opportunity to take action. It also reinforced a message that extends beyond October: Caring for yourself deserves a place on the calendar.
A pink parking spot with a purpose
A dedicated pink parking spot welcomed people arriving for mammogram appointments. The spot served as a visible reminder of the importance of screening and a gesture of support for those taking time for their health.
Its message was simple: Your appointment matters, and so do you.
Bringing the community together
AdventHealth Manchester also partnered with the UK Extension Office to host Pamper with Purpose, bringing community members together around self-care and breast cancer awareness.
The event connected the idea of taking time for yourself with a meaningful health message: Preventive care belongs in your self-care routine.
The partnership offered another opportunity to keep breast health in the conversation and encourage community members to consider their own screening needs.
Keep the commitment going
Breast Cancer Awareness Month offers a reminder to talk with a health care provider about when to begin mammograms and how often to schedule them based on personal risk and health history.
Through team member screening opportunities, a welcoming touch of pink and community partnership, AdventHealth Manchester encouraged people to turn awareness into action-this October and throughout the year.
