Sandy Bottom Nature Park receives state recreational trails grant
Sept. 17, 2025 - Exciting news for Hampton's outdoor enthusiasts! Sandy Bottom Nature Park has received state grant funding to enhance its trails.
The City of Hampton is excited to announce that Sandy Bottom Nature Park has been awarded $136,065.60 through the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation's Recreational Trails Program.
This funding will support trail enhancements at Sandy Bottom, helping improve accessibility and expand recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. Hampton is one of 12 localities and organizations across Virginia selected for 2025 grants, which are funded in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration.
The Recreational Trails Program is a competitive grant program that supports the construction and rehabilitation of trails and related facilities across the Commonwealth.
