On Saturday, October 12, at approximately 9:34 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) responded to a structure fire located off Seminole Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from a single-story residence. TFD crews quickly initiated fire suppression efforts and conducted a search of the home for any occupants. Unfortunately, one person was found deceased inside the home.

During the operation, one firefighter sustained burn injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The firefighter has since been treated and released.

The State Fire Marshal's office was called to the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS and the City of Tallahassee Utilities.
