Response to Trump’s Call to “Nationalize” Elections

Do Oregon Republicans Running for Governor Agree with Trump's Calls to "Nationalize" Elections?

Portland, OR - Earlier this week, Donald Trump claimed that Republicans across the country should "take over voting" and federalize elections in clear violation of the U.S. Constitution. Every Democratic governor, including Oregon Governor Tina Kotek, responded today in a joint statement highlighting the need for Americans to be able to exercise their right to vote without interference from the federal government.

Now, Oregonians deserve to know: do the Republican candidates for governor - including Christine Drazan, Ed Diehl, Chris Dudley - agree with Trump's calls to "nationalize" Oregon elections?

"The ability to vote in free and fair elections is a fundamental right that must be protected," said DPO Chair Nathan Soltz. "If the Republican candidates for Governor can't stand up to protect Oregonians now, there's no reason to imagine they would do so if elected."
